Can Fulham tackle the international places?
On Sunday, March 16, 2025, Fulham FC will face Tottenham Hotspurs in the Premier League. In terms of the table, this encounter is a mid-table clash, with the Cottages currently in tenth place and the Spurs in 13th. Despite the fairly close table, the betting odds are quite clearly distributed and favor a home win. We now want to take a closer look at why this might be the case in our Fulham v Tottenham prediction.
If we look at the home and away record of the two teams, it is not yet clear why the Fulham vs. Tottenham odds favor a home win. The home side have only won five of their 14 home games, which is only 36%. On the other hand, Spurs have only won five of 13 games away from home, which puts them at a win rate of 38%. So here the two teams are on a par. Perhaps the odds offered by German betting providers are a bit one-sided and should be more evenly distributed.
Our slight doubts are confirmed by the form comparison, as both teams have lost four of their last ten competitive games and are therefore on a similar level in this respect as well. In addition, the Spurs celebrated their entry into the quarterfinals of the Europa League during the week and should therefore travel to their rival with broad chests. In the first phase of our analysis, we would not recommend the Fulham vs. Tottenham tip on a home win. Perhaps it will become clear in the course of the team analysis why the bookmakers, such as Betway, assume a victory for the home team.
Fulham – Statistics & current form
Fulham has had a very strong season so far, picking up 42 points from their first 28 league games. This puts Marco Silva’s team in tenth place in the Premier League and thus safely in the top half of the table. For a team that has had to fear for its place in the league on one or two occasions in recent years, this is of course a huge success. In theory, the Cottages still have the chance to secure one of the five international places. They are only five points behind fifth-placed and thus Manchester City. Could FCF pull off a sensation this season?
Fulham can score in offense
With 41 goals in 28 league games (Ø 1.46), the home side are only ranked eleventh in the league. Nevertheless, Marco Silva’s team have only been without a goal of their own four times, thus finding their way into the opposing goal in 86% of PL games. In their own stadium, however, the rate is slightly worse at “only” 79%. Three players in the Cottages’ offense deserve special mention: Raul Jimenez, Alex Iwobi, and Antonee Robinson. The trio has already managed to collect 34 scorer points this season, making them hard to replace.
Fulham concede too many goals
Defensively, things are also rather mixed, with 38 goals conceded in 28 PL games (Ø 1.36), FCF are only in eighth place. In addition, Marco Silva’s team have kept a clean sheet just four times, conceding at least one goal in 86% of league games. At home, the rate is even worse at 93%. Thus, the Cottages at Craven Cottage only kept a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw against Southampton, who are currently in last place in the Premier League. That is of course not enough.
Tottenham – Statistics & current form
Tottenham has not had a good season so far, picking up only 34 points from their first 28 games. This means that Ange Postecoglou’s team are only in 13th place in the English top flight and no longer have a chance of reaching the international places. Nevertheless, the Spurs were able to breathe a sigh of relief only recently, because after the 3-1 win against AZ Alkmaar, the English secured a ticket to the quarterfinals of the Europa League. So the focus is now clearly on this competition. However, Eintracht Frankfurt is a tough opponent in the last eight. It would therefore be beneficial to build up self-confidence in the coming weeks.
Tottenham with plenty of offensive power
With 55 goals in 28 league games (Ø 1.96), the Spurs have one of the best attacking lines in the English top flight. In fact, only Liverpool have scored more. Furthermore, Ange Postecoglou’s team have only gone five times without scoring a goal, finding the way into the opposing box in 82% of PL games. However, the ratio is slightly worse away from home, at just 77%. The quintet around Heung-min Son, James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke is particularly in focus. The five offensive players have already scored 53 points in the league alone.
Tottenham too vulnerable defensively
While things could hardly be going better for Spurs in offense, the defense is clearly falling short of expectations. The visitors have already conceded 41 goals (Ø 1.46) in the first 28 games and have thus conceded too many goals. In a league-wide comparison, Ange Postecoglou’s team is therefore only in 13th place. For this reason, the away team also conceded at least one goal in 79% of the league games and thus only kept a clean sheet six times. However, the rate is much better away from home, at just 69%. Nevertheless, a “clean sheet bet” against Fulham is still a risky proposition.
Fulham – Tottenham Direct comparison / H2H record
In our analysis so far, we have not been able to find any real reason to speak for or against either of the two teams. In the direct comparison, however, the picture is different, with Spurs winning 49 of 92 duels and thus 53% of the games. The Cottages have only 14 wins on the credit side and thus a win rate of only 15%. Furthermore, the visitors have only lost one of the last 13 meetings against FCF. For us, this is another reason why the Fulham v Tottenham odds should be closer.
Fulham vs. Tottenham tip
We recommend the Fulham v Tottenham betting tip on the away team winning. The Spurs celebrated a great victory against Alkmaar during the week, can now fall back on almost all of their players and have significantly more individual class. In addition, the direct comparison also goes quite clearly to the guests. The home side have recently suffered a defeat and thus a setback. Marco Silva’s team will not be unsettled by this, but the result is certainly not out of their minds.
Alternatively, you can also use the Fulham v Tottenham odds for “both teams to score – yes” to play on. Especially in their own stadium, the Cottages should at least hold out and score an honorary goal. Furthermore, both teams rarely go without conceding a goal, so we will surely be able to celebrate one or two goals. You can find the best betting odds for this tip at the bookmaker Betano, which we have tested.
