Will Montenegro get off to a flying start?

The Montenegrin national football team has never qualified for a major final round before. Currently, the Falcons are making their next attempt, which, however, brings with it a high degree of complexity in a World Cup qualifying group with Croatia and the Czech Republic. Nevertheless, after the two March international matches, the maximum haul of six points beckons. Namely, if another tip about coach Robert Prosinecki’s team comes true on Tuesday evening between Montenegro and the Faroe Islands.

However, after the Montenegrins had to struggle against the clear underdog from Gibraltar in the opening game and even trailed at times, the home game against the Faroe Islands will definitely not be a sure-fire success either. The 137th-ranked team almost pulled off a sensational coup in the Czech Republic in the opening game, which should also be taken into account in the Montenegro vs. Faroe Islands prediction.

Although it is perfectly understandable that lower odds are being offered on the host between Montenegro and the Faroe Islands, a comfortable victory for the favorites is not necessarily in the air. However, those who want to bet on the underdog can find high odds for this and can play these without tax fees, for example at the betting providers.

Montenegro – Statistics & current form

Montenegro started their World Cup qualifying campaign with a win on Saturday. The “Sokol” came out on top 3-1 at home against Gibraltar, but had more problems than they would have liked. After just 13 minutes, the heavy favorites fell behind 0-1, but equalized shortly afterwards through veteran Jovetic. It was only the goals in minutes 70 and 73 that prevented the Southeast Europeans from suffering a major embarrassment.

Montenegro no longer knows the “clean sheet” feeling

On Tuesday evening, the protégés of coach Robert Prosinecki now have the opportunity to take six points. The prerequisite for this is that the forecast of a home win pays off on the second matchday in the duel between Montenegro and the Faroe Islands. The chances are once again very good, because the Falcons are to be considered significantly stronger in terms of quality.

However, the fact that betting providers with a German license are raising certain doubts is underlined by the Montenegro vs. Faroe Islands betting odds, which almost reach 1.60 for a home win. The top odds of 1.58 are offered in the Oddset app. To further increase the likelihood of a perfect start, it would be helpful to get a better grip on the defensive weaknesses that have been shown recently.

In eight consecutive international matches, the Falcons have conceded at least one goal. The last clean sheet dates back to March 2024. The Montenegrins were last able to keep a clean sheet at home in November 2023. Not only in view of the most recent impressions from the Gibraltar match, but also from a statistical point of view, a bet on both teams scoring on Tuesday evening in Niksic is therefore worth considering. No major personnel changes are expected after the opening victory. It is quite possible that coach Prosinecki, under whom there are now four wins (seven defeats) in 11 international matches, will not make any changes to the starting lineup.

Predicted line-up:
Nikic – Vesovic, Tuci, Sipcic, Gasevic – Jankovic, Loncar – Marusic, Jovetic, Krstovic – Mugosa

Faroe Islands – statistics & current form

The Faroese national team has developed positively in recent years. Decades ago, the national team from the autonomous part of the Kingdom of Denmark was still one of the biggest outsiders in the UEFA zone, which invariably served as a source of points and allowed all opponents to score many goals. However, the team’s competitiveness is now fully on display. This was underlined, for example, by the start of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Will the islanders score again?

The Czech Republic, who are taking part in the European Championship, only just missed out on a sensation against the “Landsliðið”. The underdog was able to equalize the early Schick lead unexpectedly in minute 83. Just two minutes later, however, it was, as in the 1-0 win, a header from the Leverkusen player that led to the 2-1 final score for the Czechs.

Nevertheless, the Faroe Islanders have proven, on the one hand, that they are anything but easy to crack defensively and, on the other hand, that they also have the means to be dangerous offensively. Those who therefore expect the guests to draw on Tuesday evening at the Gradski Stadium will find attractive odds of 3.80 for a draw before the Montenegro vs. Faroe Islands encounter, which you could combine with the use of the Interwetten bonus, among other things.

Incidentally, the team’s ability was already evident in the 2024 NL preliminary round. Thanks to six points from six games (1-3-2), the team once again avoided relegation to Division D. Also interesting: the islanders have scored at least one goal in seven of the last eleven international matches. Despite a presumably very defensive approach in Niksic, there will be opportunities to further improve on this already very good goal scoring record for Faroese standards, through transitions or dangerous set pieces.

Expected line-up:
Reynatrod – Danielsen, Vatnhamar, Faero, Edmundsson, Davidsen – Frederiksberg, Hansson, Hendriksson, Sorensen – Knudsen

Montenegro – Faroe Islands Head to head / H2H record

This will be the first time that the two teams have faced each other in an international match.

Montenegro – Faroe Islands Tip

In the history of the association, the Faroe Islands have actually only won in Latvia, Luxembourg and Malta in the course of World Cup qualifiers. It will probably remain that way for the time being, because in view of the undeniable quality disadvantage, the pendulum between the Montenegrins and the Faroese is clearly swinging in the direction of the hosts. In my opinion, it is therefore too risky to bet on the guests winning a point. However, that doesn’t mean that the “Sokoli” have an easy game ahead of them. The underdog from the island put up a good fight against the Czechs a few days ago (1:2).

In the end, I therefore see value in betting on both teams scoring before the duel between Montenegro and the Faroe Islands. In my opinion, the 2.30 in the top is set too high and is therefore definitely worth a bet. I choose four units as the stake and would like to point out again that the hosts were unable to keep a clean sheet eight times in a row and also had to swallow a goal against Gibraltar on Saturday (3:1). I think a similar result is realistic for Tuesday.
